A Brazilian game is making waves! Talaka, the action roguelite from Brazilian studio Potato Kid published by Acclaim, will take part in Steam Next Fest: October Edition, running October 19 to 26. You don’t even have to wait for the festival: the free demo is already on Steam.

Dead Cells meets Afro-Brazilian myth

Talaka pairs the fast, action-packed combat of games like Dead Cells with a story steeped in Afro-Brazilian mythology, set in a hand-painted watercolor world. In the demo, players explore the first world, face mythical monsters, wield a varied arsenal, master mystical abilities and take on a fearsome boss.

To mark the festival, Acclaim and Potato Kid released new demo patches and a batch of fresh screenshots showing new settings, creatures drawn from Afro-Brazilian folklore and the weapons and powers used to restore balance to the world.

Combat in Talaka

“It’s been incredible seeing players from around the globe respond so positively to the Talaka demo. We love how much people are connecting with its world, unique character design and the Afro-Brazilian culture and mythos behind it,” said Marc Anthony Rodriguez, Director of Publishing at Acclaim.

Launching in 2027

Talaka launches on Steam and consoles in early 2027. Until then, you can grab the demo and wishlist it on Steam.
