UK publisher Kwalee and independent studio Tic Tac Toe Digital have released the first demo for Ballistic.exe, a “despicably detailed” shooting simulator, available now on Steam.

The demo includes three firearms, 80+ cartridges and attachments and access to early portions of the first firing range. The full game will feature dozens of weapons, 200+ cartridges, 1,000+ attachments “and absolutely nothing supernatural”, all wrapped in a declassified computer program.

Ballistics taken seriously

Charge mass, bullet profile and barrel length determine velocity. Gravity, wind, Coriolis and Magnus effects, temperature and humidity affect trajectory. Bullets tumble as they dip below the sound barrier and shatter on impact, and recoil spreads from receiver to stock to grip to hands.

Controls use WASD and mouse to convey weight, ergonomics, breath and stance, with manual loading and operation of safeties, switches and slides. Between tests, the program’s mysterious inhabitants have requests of their own, and they’re far more esoteric.
