LIVING HELL, the new co-op horror game from Joe Fender, creator of DEVOUR (7M+ copies sold), has surprise-launched its first public playtest on Steam. It’s the first time the public can play it, and the announcement came with a new trailer and confirmation of a Steam release in 2027.

Horror for up to 4 players
LIVING HELL is a 1–4 player co-op survival horror game set in Pelican City. The collapse of the ozone layer exposed the city to devastating solar radiation and triggered terrifying mutations. Your job is to capture mutated specimens and turn them into biofuel to power a train, your last chance to reach one of the remaining rockets and escape Earth.
- Fuel your ride: leave the safety of the train, explore dangerous handcrafted locations, process specimens into fuel and scavenge materials to craft what you need.
- Trust no one: the heat is a threat of its own. Manage your Thermal Load and stay cool, or risk mutating and turning on your teammates.
- A different journey every time: each run through Pelican City follows a different subway route.
The game is developed by Joe Fender and published by Future Friends Games (CloverPit, Queen’s Domain, The Cabin Factory). Screenrant put it this way: it “makes Resident Evil look like a cozy game.”
The playtest is open now on Steam.
