I remember when showing a Brazilian indie game to the world took stubbornness and a floppy disk in hand. The gamescom latam BIG Festival, born in 2012, turns 15 in 2027, and submissions are open to developers worldwide.
gamescom latam 2027 runs April 22-25 at Distrito Anhembi in São Paulo. BIG Festival game submissions are free, opened on October 1 and close on January 15, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Brasília time, via the official site.
Categories and awards
Finalists are playable at the event, and an international jury picks winners in categories such as Best Art, Best Casual Game, Best Gameplay, Best Kids Game, Best Multiplayer, Best Narrative, Best Sound, Best Student Game and Innovation, plus Best Game: Brazil and Best Game: Latin America. The People’s Choice award is voted by visitors at stations around the hall. The WINGS Award, for games from teams led by women and people from marginalized genders, is also back.
The 2026 edition set a record with 966 games from 75 countries, led by Brazil with 451 titles.
Call for talks
Since October 16, industry professionals can send free proposals for the B2B program until January 18, 2027, at 9 a.m. Brasília time, via the call page. All proposals are curated and commercial sessions are not accepted. Selected speakers get a full pass, an extra B2B pass and three 30% ticket discount codes.
Our take
Four hundred and fifty-one Brazilian games entered in a single year. For anyone who watched this scene grow up in LAN houses and forums, that number warms the heart. If you have a project tucked away in a drawer, now is the time.
