German indie developer Armative Studios announced that Steel Aces, a free-to-play tank MMO focused on skill and historical authenticity, will fully launch on Steam on October 30. The news follows an Open Play Weekend held September 25–28, when players got to try the full game.

Open Play progress carries over

During the open weekend, every core feature was unlocked and no monetization was enabled. Everything players earned will carry over to launch.

“Having so many players take Steel Aces into battle during the Open Play Weekend gave us exactly the insight and data we needed,” said Michael Schmotz, CEO of Armative Studios. The team’s focus now is polishing the experience for release.

What sets Steel Aces apart

  • No pay-to-win: every vehicle is earned through play and monetization is cosmetic-only – no premium ammo or unfair RNG;
  • Pure line-of-sight combat: no player artillery and no aircraft – just tanks, terrain and tactics;
  • Genuine ballistics: a component-based damage system makes shot placement matter far more than in similar games;
  • 150+ historical vehicles, from the Interwar Period through World War II to the early Cold War;
  • Museum-informed authenticity, developed with military museums and hands-on tank experts;
  • 19 ranks of progression and fair, skill-matched battles.

Fun fact: Steel Aces is made in Germany by a team of just three developers with backgrounds in engineering, automotive and games. You can wishlist it now on Steam.
