Microsoft will let Xbox One players convert text to speech during games

Microsoft launched Game Chat Transcription, a feature that converts text to speech and speech to text during matches on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Microsoft today launched a new feature called “Game Chat Transcription“, which makes it possible to convert your voice to text and vice versa in real time.

The feature will be available on Xbox One and Windows 10 soon.

The first game to support it will be Halo Wars 2.

But how does this new tool work? The game’s chat window will be able to move around the screen, which reduces the chances of covering areas of the game. Microsoft will extend the feature to other games soon.

Besides accessibility, the ability to transcribe other players’ voices into text can be useful for players who don’t want to listen to audio or want to avoid blocking or muting particular players.

To turn it on in Xbox One, you will need to go to the Ease of Access settings and the game chat transcription section. The feature has to be enabled to transcribe other players’ voices into text, or text into speech so that your chat is read aloud to other players. It will also be possible to choose which voice is used to read the text.
