Loot boxes could make Star Wars Battlefront 2 pay to win

Loot boxes could make Star Wars Battlefront II pay to win, following criticism of the expensive Season Pass in DICE's first game.

DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront received a flood of criticism over its very expensive Season Pass, and without it, most of the game’s best content was locked away.

But that is not what we saw in the SW BF2 beta: several Loot Boxes were found that add improvements to characters and weapons.

The boxes can be earned simply by playing the game, logging in every day, playing ranked matches, just playing. The problem is that these boxes can also be bought with real money, which could give more advantages to those with higher incomes, making the game unfair. Some of the benefits include more hit points and weapons with improved firepower.

EA said:

Players will be rewarded for playing regularly in different ways, which includes the crates. For those who want to speed up the rewards, they can do so by buying crates with randomized items and rewards.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released on November 17.
