A game where you make wine, from planting the grapes to selling to the end customer. This is Terroir, a Wine Tycoon.

The game is very simple and easy to play, especially if you have a good knowledge of English. When you start your wine business, you begin in winter with a sum of money so you can start preparing the land, and you choose the grapes you will grow, choosing everything from the grape type to its monthly upkeep cost.

The game is very easy to understand, and right away you start getting the hang of it. At first you have a plot ready for planting your grape, and you just click and choose which grape you want to grow. There is a grape maturity bar; this bar changes according to the combination of climate and foliage of your plantation. You cut the foliage yourself with some tools provided by the game, while game time passes, and you can speed up that time.
Well, at the end of a harvest, you get a screen showing Acidity, how sweet the fruit is, the texture and the body of the grape, determined by scores from 0 to 10; these four elements are what determine the success of the product.

The next step is processing and fermenting the grapes; you choose which tools are used for this process and also how long the fermentation lasts and also the grape pressing process, making the juice blend. For those who understand wine, you will be able to make great wines; the tools are quite complete. And close to the final sale, you choose the wine storage methods, the type and the time, make changes to the final product, adjusting its acidity and more.

At the end of the process, you bottle your wine, choosing the bottle and type of cork, and send invitations to wine experts to evaluate it, giving it a score. Now the wine is sold to distributors, where you choose the price and quantity you will hand over to them.
The game also lets you buy several plots, increasing your quantity of liters produced. The plot also influences the grape, and you can grow several grapes at the same time.

But it’s not all wine: the game becomes repetitive and cloying after a few hours of gameplay; since it is in beta, it contains countless bugs (like endless nights, which can only be solved with a New Game). But it is still a pastime for those who like wine. I believe the game would do better on the mobile platform, and it falls short on difficulty. There is no challenge necessary to sustain the gameplay, and it is also an easy game.

FINAL VERDICT:

Narration: 3
Audiovisual: 4
Gameplay: 5
