Super Seducer – Review SavePoint

Reviewed on: PC

I’ll be honest with you reading this review: this game is not a game.
Super Seducer is, literally, an interactive video.

If you like Japanese dating-sim style games and want something more realistic, then you will probably love this one.

As the name says, Super Seducer is a seduction simulator where you “guide” the character Richard as he approaches girls on various occasions and, at some moments, choose which way the conversation should go. So far, nothing very different from Japanese simulators.

The actor who plays Richard is called Richard La Ruina, a well-known seduction guru and author of books in the PUA genre.
In fact, the “game” can be considered a kind of virtual PUA training, and in case you don’t know what that is, I did a bit of research and will sum it up for you:

PUA is short for Pick Up Artist, and PUA training consists of a series of psychological techniques and approaches focused on seducing partners of the opposite sex.
In theory, by becoming a PUA expert, you are able to chat up any girl and make her interested in you, including celebrities or beautiful girls far above the normal standard of beauty. That is where the name comes from.

Back to the game: after each dialogue option you choose, the scene unfolds, and Richard comments on the option selected, explaining whether it was good or bad.
The “game” holds your hand the whole time, marking the correct options in green, and the worse options in yellow or red. If you select a red option, the scene doesn’t even continue, because Richard appears to scold you and explain why that was a bad option, and you go back to the menu to choose a better one.

The video quality is very good, and the dialogue, believe it or not, doesn’t sound forced and is easy to understand even without subtitles, because the English is spoken with almost no slang.
The audio simply exists, and does its job. Very generic music plays during the approach videos, and it is neither bad nor good.

The dialogue options go from normal to absurd, and as the game’s own Steam page says, there are embarrassing options that can be selected, and here in the game, you won’t get slapped in the face for saying something embarrassing to a woman.

With several language options, including PT-BR, the game has 11 hours of recorded scenes, but the videos with Richard’s comments on your choices have no subtitles, even if you set the game to another language.

Final thoughts:

Super Seducer is not a game: it is an interactive movie, resembling those Japanese dating-sim games, but here the mechanics are practically nonexistent.
If you put a DVD or Blu-ray on in your living room, the experience will be similar to what you get in this game.

The videos are well edited and the actresses stand out for their beauty, but unfortunately that’s all. The game gives you no incentive to keep watching the videos.
Actually, it does: the chapters have an exploration percentage, so if you have some kind of OCD about unfinished tasks, you will play each chapter several times and select all the dialogue options to reach 100% in each of them.
And if you really want the game because of PUA, you can multiply my overall score by 2, because in that respect the game does its job well.

Score

Narrative = 6

Mechanics = 2

Audiovisual = 5

Overall = 4
