Overwatch director interested in cross-play

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan told Eurogamer that Blizzard is studying cross-play and talking with Sony and Microsoft about it.

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan said in an interview with Eurogamer that they are studying the possibility of adding cross-play to the game (this lets you play with other people who own the game but on different platforms than yours, for example, someone on PS4 could play with people on PC and Xbox One and vice versa). Jeff said:

“We’re super excited about what’s happening right now with cross-play in different games, from Rocket League to Fortnite, we’re constantly talking to Sony and Microsoft to see where they stand and gauge their reactions.”

Jeff also mentioned that although it is something that would excite him, it would be complicated to implement because each company has different technologies and business perspectives, but the possibility definitely gets him excited.

“We’re gamers; ‘Why can’t my friends on this system or that system play together?’ We sympathize with that, we want to be able to do that too,” Jeff concluded.

So folks, what do you think of the possibility? Are you as excited as the game’s director?
