You know that device you buy really wanting it to work out, but with a big question mark hanging over its future? That’s how I saw PSVR: an impressive promise, starting off strong with a AAA game in its catalog, but an uncertain future, with no answers to the question of what would come next.

Today I have the certainty and the joy of knowing that the device has thrived and established itself in the market, that we now clearly see new versions in the future, just as we see new versions of consoles, since we already have an established market and, for players, a vast library with every possible kind of experience.

That said, we dive into Arca’s Path, a great entry-level VR game, where we use only the movement of our head to move a ball and guide it along a path, living the experience of a girl who lives in a dystopian future, where through a headset, when she wears it, she can see a world different from her reality, a beautiful world known as Arca.

With 25 levels, with an experience of approximately 3 hours or even a bit more, it’s a very polished game that entertains those who venture through its maze. The controls are done only with head movement, yet they are very well crafted and precise and the harder levels are not irritating or frustrating, but just present the player with a bigger challenge that encourages overcoming it, but rest assured, it doesn’t feed your frustration.

Exquisite work by the developer Dream Reality Interactive (DRI) lets the game please both VR enthusiasts and newcomers, since there are hidden, optional collectibles, offering a greater challenge to VR veterans, and so with a simple game they manage to captivate both audiences, newcomers and veterans.

In terms of technical aspects, the game’s look is well built with a vibrant, colorful neon world, with papercraft-style animations, deserving, for its care in the graphics, a score of 8.0.

In the controls department, despite the simplicity, the game offers a precision and a challenge uncommon in this style of game, though with the limitations natural to this style of game, deserving in the gameplay aspect a score of 7.0.

The narrative is simple, yet efficient for the game’s proposed style, a young woman immersed in a dystopian world who manages to live incredible experiences thanks to the virtual reality device she uses, deserving in the narrative aspect a score of 6.0.

If you’re starting out in VR or you’re a VR enthusiast, Arca’s Path is a game to have on your radar, with beautiful visuals, simple and precise controls and an exciting experience, allowing a good dose of fun and deserving of VR owners enjoying this lovely experience.

final score 7.0
