Project Cars studio is working on its own console, which promises to be the most powerful on the market

Slightly Mad Studios, maker of Project Cars, announces the Mad Box, its own console that promises to be the most powerful on the market. See the project.

The developers of the game Project Cars, Slightly Mad Studios, announced their newest project: a new console. Yes, you read that right: the company will launch its own gaming platform. According to Ian Bell (head of the company), the console will be called Mad Box and will have “the power of true 4K”. Bell also confirmed that the console will support VR headsets, powerful enough to reach 60FPS (per eye). Bell said:

“It will support most of the main VR headsets and the specs will be equivalent to a ‘very fast PC in 2 years’ time. We are at the start of negotiations with component manufacturers, so we can’t say much more right now”

About possible exclusives for the console, he said:

“We think exclusives are ‘exclusionary’, but since we are shipping a cross-platform engine to all developers, it will be their choice; from now on we will not pay for exclusives.”

Asked about the console’s funding, whether it would be through private investment or crowdfunding, Bell answered:

“”We have several investors already offering the funding we need to see the product through to completion, but it’s early and we’re looking at the best offers now,” Bell explained. “Everything we’ve approached is discussing standard part-ownership investment deals.”

Slightly Mad Studios promised the console will launch by 2022, but that it will receive the images of the console’s first design in 4 to 6 weeks. And what do you think of the company’s new venture? Are you eager for more information?
