Anthem will have no loot boxes, microtransactions will be limited to cosmetic items

Anthem will have no loot boxes, and microtransactions will be limited to cosmetic items, confirms Michael Gamble, producer of BioWare’s game.

Michael Gamble, lead producer of Anthem, said there will be no loot boxes in the game; according to Michael, the only microtransactions in the game will be cosmetic. For those who don’t know what that is, loot box means “reward box or surprise box” and describes chests that give random items inside games, which may or may not give competitive advantages.

Recently EA Games, which owns BioWare, was involved in controversies over the use of the infamous loot box; Star Wars Battlefront 2 and FIFA 19 received harsh criticism for excessive use of them. Anthem arrives on February 22.
