The next Sea of Thieves update greatly reduces the game’s file size on the hard drive, but requires a reinstall

Rare says the next Sea of Thieves update greatly reduces the game’s size on the hard drive but requires a full reinstall. Here are the details.

Sea of Thieves is the newest bet from Rare, the company behind classics such as Donkey Kong and Banjo-Kazooie. The company recently revealed some details about the game’s next update.

Rare said the next update will require the game to be fully reinstalled, which will optimize and consequently reduce the space the game uses on the hard drive from about 47GB to 27GB on the PC version, from 35GB to 10GB on the Xbox One version and from 47GB to 25GB on the Xbox One X version. The Xbox One X version is larger because it has very-high-resolution textures and enhanced graphical effects.

The update will be released on February 6.
