RUMOR: next Assassin’s Creed will be set in the Viking era

Rumor: the next Assassin's Creed will be set in the Viking era, according to recent leaks. See what is known so far about the game.

There have been rumors for a while about an Assassin’s Creed game set in the Viking era. Recently the rumors have been getting stronger and stronger, and now there are even several pieces of artwork that supposedly belong to the game.

According to the latest rumor, the game will be called Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok, and in it we will play as an ally of Ragnar Lodbrok (legendary Viking warrior/king who reigned over Denmark and Sweden in the 8th and 9th centuries) and will be able to sail and explore the Nordic realms (Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark).

The mechanics we saw in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be expanded, but this time naval combat will not be as important, since the focus will be on exploring more locations on land to mark where the areas of interest are. That is, unlike other Assassin’s Creeds where you clearly knew (most of the time) where to go to discover or see something, this game will encourage you to travel through locations to mark possible points of interest. Another mechanic mentioned in the “leak” is changing clothes in real time to shake off pursuers.

Ubisoft promised there would be no more annual Assassin’s Creed games, so we can say, with some confidence, that the next game in the saga will be released in 2020. We will probably see more information at E3. So, do you want the rumor to be true or would you prefer an Assassin’s Creed set in another era?
