Unlike the comics, the Spider-Man and Avengers games do not exist in the same world

Unlike the comics, Insomniac's Spider-Man games and Marvel's Avengers do not exist in the same universe, according to Eidos Montreal.

Marvel became famous for achieving an enviable feat, creating the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) where its heroes, as in the comics, coexist in the same world… would Marvel have a similar plan for the games universe?

So far in the world of games nothing of the kind has been done; in the game Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) we saw references to other heroes, and it’s even possible to go to the Avengers tower and climb to its top, but nothing beyond that. With the arrival of the Avengers game, which is being made jointly by Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics and Marvel, the question was answered… according to Eidos Montreal the games do not share or exist in the same universe.

Doing something like that would involve continuity planning that would make the development of the games very laborious, even more so because the games are developed by different companies, so in the games (at least for now) each story will follow its own universe with no relation to the other (as if the stories took place in different realities).
