GameSpot: the PlayStation 5 has no equivalent to Quick Resume

The PS5 has no Quick Resume equivalent: switching games closes the other one, with nothing suspended in the background, unlike the Xbox Series X|S.

This week a video of the PS5 interface appeared suggesting it would have something equivalent to Quick Resume (the ability to keep several games suspended and switch from one game to another in very little time), but it seems that’s not the case. If you want to switch from one game to another on the PS5, the other game you’re playing will be closed; no game will stay suspended in the background.

You might wonder why you’d keep several games in the background, but think of this scenario: you’re playing Dirt 5 and your friends come online and invite you to play Destiny 2… you can literally open Destiny 2 without worrying about your progress in Dirt 5 and without having to restart the game; you can go back to it at any time and the game will return on the exact same screen you left it on, even if the Xbox Series X is unplugged. On top of that, Quick Resume lets you keep more than 4 games in the background, allowing you to switch between them in very little time. I hope Sony implements the feature in the future, because it’s a really good one!
