The Medium is a survival horror game that will launch for Xbox Series S|X and PC in January 2021. The game tells the story of Marianne Severo and her epic journey moving between worlds solving supernatural mysteries (I’ll leave the trailer below for anyone who wants to learn more about the game). It has a mechanic that shows the perspectives of both worlds at the same time, so the player has to pay attention not just to the surrounding environment but to the environments… let me try to be less confusing: you will be in one same environment, but it will appear in two distinct ways at once, one being the spirit world and the other the real world, and the screen will show both simultaneously… and before I forget, the game’s music was made by the Silent Hill composer, Akira Yamaoka.
The developers were recently asked whether The Medium would later show up on the PlayStation 5, and the answer was:
“For now, we are focusing on Xbox Series X and S and PC, so we currently have no other platforms planned”
The team was also asked about choosing Microsoft as a partner, and Bloober Team’s answer was the following:
“It’s a result of our relationship with Microsoft, the hardware we needed and how our development progress and Microsoft’s plans for the Xbox Series X align. The end result is an exciting adventure bringing The Medium as one of the first games for Xbox Series X.”
The Medium launches on January 28, 2021 for PC and Xbox Series S|X and will be available on Game Pass from day one.
