Ubisoft’s Facebook page announces delay of Prince of Persia remake

Ubisoft announced on Facebook that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is delayed to March 18, 2021, after harsh criticism of the trailer’s visuals.

The Prince of Persia remake received harsh criticism: the game was shown in a trailer with graphics well below what we would like to see in a remake of such an iconic game. Until now Ubisoft has not responded (satisfactorily) to the controversy, but fans noticed the game was being developed by a small Indian team with little game development experience.

Recently, in a post on its Czech Republic Facebook page, Ubisoft announced that the game had been delayed from January 21, 2021 to March 18, 2021, but the post was soon removed, so we do not know whether it was a mistake or an announcement published too early. Here is the statement:

“2020 was a year like no other. Today we would like to let you know that we need more time to finish the game.”

“As a result, the release date of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been moved to March 18, 2021. We believe this is the right decision to make sure we deliver a game you will love. Thank you for your patience and your continued support of Prince of Persia, and we hope you stay safe and healthy this holiday season. “

It makes a lot of sense to delay the game for improvements, not to mention that the pandemic may really have hurt its development. Either way, the company should soon speak up, so let us wait.
