Xbox general marketing manager asks fans not to expect too much from Microsoft announcements at The Game Awards

Xbox's general marketing manager asks fans not to build high expectations for Microsoft's announcements at The Game Awards 2020.

Today, December 10, 2020, The Game Awards takes place, an event where many announcements are made. This year the event promises to break the record for announcements; according to Geoff Keighley (the event’s creator) we will have a dozen new announcements. That statement generated a lot of hype on discussion forums across the internet… names like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Remake and even the acquisition of a new studio by Microsoft have been appearing with some frequency.

The most recent rumor said that Microsoft would reveal several novelties from its new studios at the event… but it seems that will not be the case. Aaron Greenberg, Xbox’s general marketing manager, used his Twitter to deny this rumor. According to Greenberg, he read several speculations about Microsoft’s presentation being something big and decided to warn fans to tone down their hype, because Microsoft would not show anything as big as last year, when Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X and a Hellblade 2 trailer. Check his tweet in full:

“You will see us on our social channels promoting tuning in to
@thegameawards tomorrow. We hope you support the industry and watch. While we have a few moments in the show, I would temper expectations on the speculation I’m seeing, especially how big we were last year!”

It is worth noting that this does not mean Microsoft will not announce or show anything, but rather that they will not show anything as big as the rumors circulating on the internet say. Well, we will soon know what the announcements will be… and you, are you looking forward to the event?
