The Coalition, the company currently responsible for the Gears series, announced in a message to fans that it is migrating to the latest version of Unreal Engine (Gears 4 and 5 run on Unreal Engine 4). Gears 6 and the company’s next projects will use Unreal Engine 5, the most current, technological and recursive version of the engine. Because it is migrating to the new engine, helping 343 Industries with Halo development and at the same time creating content for Gears 5 multiplayer, the company said we will go a while without seeing news about new projects and games. Check it out:
“Gears 5 has content on the way, and we will continue to release new Operations through Operations 7 and 8. Each Operation will have two drops, including new characters, new maps and special events. Through the end of the year, we will have store updates with exciting new content, as well as featured playlists. Moving to a new engine is a big undertaking, so we want to be clear that we will not be announcing new projects or titles for some time.“
