World of Warships to host a virtual exhibition of 15 naval museums around the world!

World of Warships will host a virtual exhibition of 15 naval museums from around the world in a streaming event organized by Wargaming.

The company behind the game World of Warships, Wargaming, is organizing a streaming event with the aim of giving a virtual tour of 15 naval museums around the world. The exhibition is called “Longest Night of Museums“, celebrates International Museum Day and will last about 17 hours, showing, besides a virtual tour of those museums, historical information and even some interesting giveaways. Check the event’s official description:

“Wargaming, developer and publisher of World of Warships (WoWS), the free online naval combat game, is pleased to unveil the Longest Night of Museums. It is a global showcase that will feature 15 historic and naval museums from various places around the world.

Watch virtual tours of the participating museums and ask historians questions on International Museum Day, May 18, 2021, through a free 17-hour stream packed with content, starting at 4:40 a.m. Brasília time on the World of Warships and World of Warships: Legends channels on YouTube, Twitch and Steam.

Museums and historic sites have suffered the impact of the pandemic and, as travel and tourism remain largely restricted, digital activities are vital for these organizations to keep a connection with the public and continue preserving the world’s naval heritage.”

The virtual tour will begin in Japan, showing the Mikasa historic war memorial, and then move on to Australia, Taiwan, Europe and lastly North America (visiting Pearl Harbor). The virtual tour will be held live and viewers will be able to interact with guides and historians through questions. There will also be quizzes that will give participants rewards inside World of Warships.

For those who are still not satisfied with the very high level of interaction presented so far, Wargaming has partnered with Verizon for the use of augmented reality glasses (for an even more immersive view of the content presented). Closing the call for the event, Wargaming’s general manager of public relations, developer of World of Warships, concluded:

“Naval museums around the world hold a wealth of knowledge and important lessons from history that, unfortunately, became practically inaccessible last year. We at Wargaming know that each of them has a unique story to tell and we want to shine a light on them to bring them to our wide audience of history enthusiasts. We are thrilled that so many museums decided to join and celebrate International Museum Day with World of Warships and World of Warships: Legends.”
