Square Enix has just announced the remake of Dragon Quest 3, officially named Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D. The remake’s producer is Masaaki Hayasaka, who worked as an assistant producer on Octopath Traveler, and you can notice a similarity in the art style of both games. The platforms that will receive the game haven’t been mentioned yet; it was only confirmed that it will be released outside Japan. Without further ado, here is the trailer:
“Dragon Quest III is set many years before the original Dragon Warrior (the game’s name in Japan) in a world separate from the first two games. An evil demon named Baramos threatens to destroy the world. The story revolves around the Hero, son or daughter (the player can choose to be male or female, with few gameplay changes) of the legendary warrior Ortega. On their sixteenth birthday, the Hero (hereafter referred to as “they” for convenience) is summoned to the castle and is given by the king of Aliahan the challenge of ridding the world of the evil archfiend Baramos, whom Ortega attempted in the past but apparently perished in a volcano. The Hero is then able to recruit up to three traveling companions to help fight Baramos.”
