Microsoft has been adding gaming-related improvements and options to Windows 10 for some time. Basically, the system already let you take screenshots, record video, stream, track advanced stats and use party chat natively and fully integrated into the system. Now, with Windows 11, Microsoft hopes to go further by adding technological advances that until then were only present in the company’s new generation of consoles, the Xbox Series.
The company mentioned that the Xbox Velocity Architecture and Auto HDR are coming to the system and that the Xbox app will now be natively integrated into it:
“With DirectStorage, which will only be available with Windows 11, games can quickly load resources onto the graphics card without overloading the CPU. This means you will be able to experience incredibly detailed game worlds rendered at lightning speeds, without long loading times. Windows 11 ‘DirectStorage Optimized’ PCs are configured with the hardware and drivers needed to enable this incredible experience.”
Windows 11 will launch at the end of this year (2021) and will be free for everyone who already has Windows 10 installed. Check out a trailer showing a bit of the operating system.
