The Elder Scrolls VI had a short teaser shown at E3 2018, and little has been revealed about the game since; Bethesda limited itself to saying that the game was still a long way from release. This week, in an interview with The Telegraph, Todd Howard revealed a bit more about the game’s development:
“The technology [that will be used in Starfield], Creation Engine 2, is kind of built for both. It’s like a new technology foundation. The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now, but everybody works on everything, so the projects kind of intertwine.
“It’s good to think that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in the design phase… but we’re checking the technology: ‘Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?’ Every game will have some new sets of technology, so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions to Creation Engine 2 that the game will require.”
Three things stand out to me in this statement: the first is that the game is still in the design phase, the second is that the studio’s current efforts are on Starfield, and the last is that they intend to add technologies to be used in the game, which means everything suggests there is still a lot of work to be done, and that takes years! Let it take its time, but let it come out as good and grand as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim! And you, what do you expect from the game?
