NieR: Automata Steam version to get patch with improvements and bug fixes

NieR: Automata on Steam will get a patch with performance improvements and bug fixes, after years of fan complaints on PC.

NieR: Automata does not perform well on PC. Fans have always complained about the performance and some bugs, but Square Enix simply did nothing about it. In the end, the community began creating mods to improve the game’s performance, and until now that was the only fix that owners of NieR: Automata on Steam had access to. Fortunately, that is about to end: Square Enix announced a patch with fixes and several improvements for the game, and the patch will be released on July 15.

Among the improvements brought by the patch, the highlights are the ability to use Fidelity FX CAS (helps increase visual quality by enabling sharpening with optional upscaling to restore detail lost after TAA is applied), HDR, improved textures (4K) for the user interface and icons, cutscenes now run at 60FPS and are displayed in the correct aspect ratio, and lastly global illumination was also added, which can be configured to run in 3 distinct options (low, medium and high). The patch also fixes numerous bugs, such as the one that kept the mouse cursor from disappearing from the screen when using a controller.
