In a genre full of rifles and grenades, Medic: Pacific War goes the other way: a war game with no guns. Developed by Polish studio Hypnotic Ants and published by IZilla Games, it puts you in the boots of an unarmed U.S. medic in WWII’s Pacific Theatre. The game has been in Steam Early Access since June.

Saving instead of killing

The campaign follows medic Mayers and opens at Pearl Harbor. Your job is to save and evacuate the wounded: assess each soldier, stop the bleeding, ease the pain and stabilize them, often dragging them to cover under fire. Supplies are limited and moral choices come up along the way.

  • Triage and treatment system
  • Launch maps: Pearl Harbor and the Philippines
  • Lifeline Mode, with endless waves of wounded and roguelite progression

Early Access

Early Access is planned to last about a year, and the price, currently US$9.99, will rise at full launch. On Steam the game is “Mostly Positive” at 70%: players praise the concept and criticize performance and voice acting.
