Producer of the Castlevania TV series aims for Game of Thrones quality

Adi Shankar, producer of the animated Castlevania series on Netflix, wants it to be compared to Game of Thrones in quality, he told Polygon.

Adi Shankar, a producer of the series, wants the Castlevania show for Netflix to be compared to Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings in terms of quality.

The day before yesterday, it was announced that an animated Castlevania series would be coming to Netflix later this year. Since then, one of the show’s producers has been eager to share some details about it.

Adi Shankar (producer of Dredd and The Grey) is one of the producers on the team creating the series. In an interview with Polygon, Shankar shared his vision for the project, and noted how it can compare to others with borrowed source material.

[blockquote]“If you look at Game of Thrones, every season was bigger than the last. The last season had that incredible Jon Snow battle, which was like a scene from The Lord of the Rings. I’d like to do something similar to that.”[/blockquote]

As for what the show’s focus would be, Shankar kept quiet on specifics, but he shared details about the production stage

[blockquote]”The casting is already done and the show will be released this year. I really can’t comment and I don’t think Castlevania fans will like reading spoilers about this show.”[/blockquote]

It seems we will just have to wait a bit longer to learn the exact plot of the show, but Shankar ended by saying he believes fans of the series will appreciate the level of maturity that will be presented, as well as the “authenticity” to the franchise.

Season 1, part 1 of Castlevania is supposedly going to be released on Netflix at the end of 2017, with a second season in the works for 2018
