The first content of the Halo Wars 2 Season Pass, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan Kinsano, arrived in the game on March 20, 2017, on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. She is a UNSC ally in the fight against Atriox and the Banished, and was the first extra leader released after the game’s debut on February 21.
Kinsano can be used in all multiplayer modes and brings a very clear identity: everything about her revolves around fire. A nice detail: instead of commanding from afar, she goes to the front line piloting a modified Cyclops exoskeleton, armed with two flamethrowers. You can see the care in making the character’s style show up in every unit and every power.
New units
- Kinsano’s Cyclops
- Flame Warthog
- Veteran Flame Hog
- Veteran Hellbringers
New abilities
- Hellcharge: empowers units with more damage and health, and makes them explode on death, damaging nearby enemies.
- Helldrop
- Inferno: a large-scale bombardment that unleashes a wave of fire with continuous damage.
- Napalm Missiles: missiles that deal damage on impact and then keep burning units and structures.
In Blitz mode, the card-based one, she has eight exclusive cards, among them the Cyclops itself, the Flame Warthog and the napalm missiles, plus a battle group that brings together marines, Hellbringers and ODSTs. According to the DLC’s promotion, she also speeds up troop movement in multiplayer. Kinsano was included in the Season Pass, but could also be bought separately.
343 Industries promised new content every month for Halo Wars 2, with more leaders, each with their own units and abilities, and new campaign missions.
What came next
The promise was kept: the game received monthly DLCs starting in March 2017, and the campaign expansion Awakening the Nightmare, which pits the Banished against the Flood, arrived on September 26, 2017. At the end of October that year, the game also gained matches between Xbox One and PC.
