Update: Creative mode will be available, in early access, to Season 7 Battle Pass owners starting tomorrow, December 7. Other players will get access to the mode on December 13.
Original text: Fortnite will soon get a Sandbox mode, called Creative. This mode will let players build their own levels and mini-games without getting involved in real combat. Adding this game mode to the existing ones, Save The World (PVE) and Battle Royale, the game now has 3 game modes. The site Eurogamer described this mode:
“Imagine Fortnite’s creative mode as Minecraft’s Creative mode – it’s a version of the game where you can fly and place elements inside it, without having to collect all the resources first.
All the prefab scenery elements, props and obstacle courses can be thrown onto the map. You can also place chests or llamas and put together your own mini-games using various interactive elements. And you can save your world on a server to revisit later, with friends or alone.
Creative has a small hub island with rift teleports that can take you to your creations, but also featured community creations. Once loaded, your world can be played under several different rule sets (such as a Deathmatch map, a free-roam map, etc.) and can be reset to its saved state afterwards, so you won’t need to rebuild it every time.
The mode sounds like a godsend for those who spend a lot of time building fun things in Battle Royale’s Playground mode but are still stuck with that format’s time limit and lack of save features.”
The new mode is expected to launch after the night of its announcement, which according to leaked information will take place on Friday (December 7) at the Game Awards. Below is the video showing a bit of the new game mode:
