Resident Evil 2 remake reached 3 million copies sold in 1 week

Capcom announces that the Resident Evil 2 remake sold 3 million copies in its first week, ahead of Resident Evil 7’s 2.5 million in the same period.

The long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 2, Capcom’s classic game that basically set the parameters for the survival horror genre in the gaming world, reached the mark of 3 million units sold in its first week of release. The announcement was made by Capcom itself, the game’s publisher. For comparison, the franchise’s previous title, Resident Evil 7, reached 2.5 million units sold in its first week, which shows the game will probably still have plenty of “fuel to burn”.

Capcom aims to reach a total sales number similar to that of Resident Evil 7, which has reached a total of 6 million copies sold so far. Judging by the excitement and the positive reception from both the media and players, it will not take long for the game to achieve that.
