Square Enix denies rumor that Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to platforms other than PlayStation 4

Square Enix denies the rumor that Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to platforms other than PlayStation 4 at launch: no plans for other platforms.

Square-Enix has adopted a multiplatform policy this generation; although it still makes some games exclusive, many of them end up arriving on other platforms after a while. It’s no exaggeration to say that the company’s most anticipated game right now is Final Fantasy VII Remake. The game was announced at Sony’s E3 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and at the time the trailer carried the words “Play it first on PlayStation 4”; for many, that phrase was definitive proof that Final Fantasy VII Remake would be multiplatform, and all that remained was to find out how long it would be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

Recently Xbox Germany announced, through videos and images (since removed), that the game would arrive on Xbox One on the same date as the PlayStation 4 version. For a while this seemed to be definitive proof that the game was multiplatform, although it was truly strange, because if we stop to think, it would be a huge break of exclusivity, and a bombshell like that would have a much greater effect if announced at Microsoft’s E3 2019. Square-Enix was asked about the veracity of the announcement and responded through a representative: “As previously announced, Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020. We have no plans for other platforms”, meaning the game really is exclusive.

So, do you think this game will ever come out on another platform?
