Remedy has games with more than interesting universes and stories, for example, there is the universe of Alan Wake (set in a small town in rural America) where the darkness itself (which is able not only to take over everything, but also to bring to life the stories written by Alan and distort them) is the enemy, there is also the world in temporal crisis of Quantum Break where time itself is/was close to collapsing, and now we have the mysterious Oldest House of Control and its objects of power. If we stop to think, it is perfectly possible to link these games, creating a kind of “Remedy Universe” or “Remedy-Verse”, making its games part of the same universe/reality.
Of the 3 games mentioned, only Quantum Break may not take part in this, since the rights to the IP (intellectual property) belong to Microsoft (although nothing prevents Remedy from acquiring the IP rights, as it did with Alan Wake).
The idea of a shared universe among the games made by Remedy seems to be in the developer’s plans; check out what the company’s games director said:
“When we create a universe of games, we are very careful when thinking about them: we don’t just put them together. We are looking at all of Remedy’s games to have continuity, as if they were seen as something shared. I want the community to work together and recognize the story. I don’t want to tell them what it is, I want them to find out. I want people to feel it’s up to them to take it away and reach their own conclusions, and there is a lot in this experience to piece together”.
So, did you like the idea?
