Google launches its game and app subscription service, Google Play Pass

Google launches Google Play Pass, a subscription service of games and apps for Android with no ads or in-app purchases, for $4.99 a month.

Google Play Pass is the name of Google’s subscription service for Android phones, which will let subscribers not only play the games available on the service but also use apps. According to Google the service has “hundreds of incredible games and apps, completely free of ads and in-app purchases. All for a low monthly price”.

Google’s announcement comes right after Apple Arcade’s presentation and focused on showing which games and apps will be available on the service (unlike Apple, which for now will offer only games), which will cost $4.99 (the family account administrator will be able to share the service with up to 5 people). The service will be available in the US, and in other countries in the near future, for all phones that have version 16.6.25 of the Google Play Store installed and will require the Android version in use to be 4.4 or higher.
