Microsoft’s gaming division corporate vice president, Mike Ybarra, will leave the company after 19 years. Mike joined Microsoft as a systems engineer and then held several different roles until joining the Xbox division in 2009 as general manager of Xbox Live; in 2017 he became corporate vice president of gaming, overseeing projects such as Xbox Game Pass and Mixer. Mike said goodbye by writing:
“After 20 years at Microsoft, it’s time for my next adventure. It’s been a great ride at Xbox and the future is bright. Thanks to everyone on TeamXbox, I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished and I wish you the best. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you, fellow gamers, and our great fans, for all the support. Keep playing and I hope to see you online soon!”
Phil Spencer wrote in reply to the tweet:
“Thank you for your many contributions to Microsoft and Xbox. You have been a strong advocate for our fans since day one and have always strived to keep players at the center of everything we do. All of us at TeamXbox wish you the best.”
