Microsoft hires Netflix marketing expert

Microsoft hires Jerret West, a former Netflix executive, for Xbox marketing. Here is what the hire could mean for the brand and Game Pass.

Microsoft made a rather curious hire, or rehire, last month. The professional’s name is Jerret West.

West worked for years at Microsoft until reaching Global Product Manager, and after another 3 years left to work at American Express for a short time; right after, he went on to become Head of Marketing at Netflix, where he stayed for seven years.

Why does this hire deserve an article of its own? What is the big difference between West and the other employees of the emerald giant?

Well, he returned to Microsoft in a role that brings together all of the company’s marketing activities. All marketing strategies go through him. Not to mention that he is already familiar with the Xbox brand and the company as a whole. It’s worth remembering that West worked on the brand’s most famous console, the Xbox 360, and even if it wasn’t in the same role, the knowledge bonus still applies.

West’s Netflix experience can also be applied to the most similar service on the games market: Game Pass.

Get ready, because this is not a change that will go unnoticed. The Xbox brand will still give the competition a lot of trouble.
