It’s no secret to anyone that Microsoft has long been adopting an entirely pro-consumer policy… if you have doubts, just look at the care it takes with backward compatibility, where it not only makes old games available but also keeps a whole team working so the games run with improvements often at the level of the paid remasters we’ve seen around (hi, Spider-Man). Gears 5 won’t be an exception to the rule.
The game will receive a series of graphical improvements plus additional content (including campaign content that it isn’t yet known whether will be charged for) on November 10 (except for the campaign DLC, which arrives in December). And except for the visual and performance improvements that will only be present on the new console generation, all the remaining content will be available to all Gears 5 owners, regardless of the platform they play on. Below I will detail the content and novelties.
Campaign
- A new DLC, called Hivebusters, focused on the campaign (lasting between 3 and 4 hours) will launch in December. Hivebusters is the name of that 3-person squad that appears in the original Gears 5’s Escape mode. The Coalition has not yet decided whether the DLC will be paid or free.
- Two new difficulty modes, Ironman and Inconceivable.
- New cosmetic items (skins) for weapons and for Kait, JD and Del
- Jack’s upgrades will not be reset in New Game +
- New Achievements
- The possibility of using the WWE Dave Bautista skin on Marcus Fenix during the campaign (with voice acting by Dave Bautista himself).
Graphics/performance improvements (only Xbox Series S|X)
- 120FPS in multiplayer on both, latency reduced by up to 57%
- Improved lighting, resolution, shadows, textures and filters
So, what did you think of this free remaster that Microsoft made for its fans?
