Ghost of Tsushima’s success was well above Sony’s expectations, says PlayStation CEO

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan told GamesIndustry that Ghost of Tsushima, with 2.4 million copies in three days, was a commercial hit beyond Sony’s expectations.

It’s no secret to anyone that Ghost of Tsushima is a commercial and critical success. The samurai game made by Sucker Punch sold more than 2.4 million units in its first 3 days and was a big surprise for Sony. The game surprised so positively that even PlayStation’s CEO, Jim Ryan, recently commented on it in an interview given to GamesIndustry:

“This is the result not of massive spending, but of very, very steady, carefully planned organic growth. Probably the best example I give… I could obviously talk about Naughty Dog, but they’ve always made great games. But let’s talk about Ghost of Tsushima, which has been a critical delight and certainly a commercial delight to a degree we didn’t think it would be. That speaks volumes about the work Sucker Punch did in building on its previous canon of work.”

You could tell the game literally pleased Sony’s bosses in every respect! And did you like the game?
