What a sweet video, folks. A few days after the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sony and Insomniac Games published in November 2020 a behind-the-scenes video about the hero’s family, with the actors who bring Miles, his mother Rio, and his best friend Ganke to life.
Miles is played by Nadji Jeter, who already played the character in the 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man. Rio Morales is voiced by Jacqueline Piñol, and Ganke Lee, the friend who knows the secret identity and helps Miles with an app for residents to call Spider-Man for help, is played by Griffin Puatu. My little gamer heart loves it when a superhero game takes as much care of the home side as of the fights.

Tip for anyone who does not speak English: turn on the subtitles in the player and choose automatic translation into your language.
The story picks up where the first game and the The City That Never Sleeps expansion left off. With Peter Parker traveling, Miles becomes New York’s only Spider-Man and has to balance the hero’s life with his mother’s city council campaign, while facing the war between Roxxon and the criminal group Underground. The game came out on November 12, 2020 for PS4 and, as a launch title, for PS5 in North America, Australia and New Zealand; in the rest of the world, the PS5 version arrived a week later. A nice detail: the game is dedicated to Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther actor, who died two months before launch.
What came next
Miles Morales received favorable reviews and passed 6.5 million units sold in July 2021. The PC version, made by Nixxes Software, came out on November 18, 2022, and the direct sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, arrived on the PS5 in October 2023.
