Numbers first: Overcooked! All You Can Eat brings together two games, 2016’s Overcooked and 2018’s Overcooked 2, with all the extra content released for both. The collection came out on November 12, 2020 as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A month later, it got a famous cook.
At The Game Awards on December 10, 2020, the Swedish Chef from the Muppets appeared in a video receiving a trophy made of aluminum foil. After a mix-up on stage, host Geoff Keighley revealed that the character had become a playable chef in All You Can Eat, as a free limited-time download for all players.
According to Polygon, the character arrived with his usual outfit, eyebrows and mustache, but without exclusive lines or animations, and without the famous chickens that usually accompany him in the sketches. The Swedish Chef is from The Muppet Show and is known for his chaotic cooking and made-up Swedish language. In practice, a perfect fit for a series in which the kitchen catches fire in every level.
Translating the package
All You Can Eat is not just a collection. The first Overcooked was remade in the Overcooked 2 engine, and with that it got online mode for the first time. Both games received 4K visuals, cross-platform online matches with a shared queue, exclusive levels and chefs, and an assist mode, which makes recipe times longer, extends round durations and lets you skip levels. There are also accessibility options, such as an adjustable interface, dyslexia-friendly text and colorblind modes.
What came next
The collection arrived on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 23, 2021, on Stadia in May 2022 and got a Nintendo Switch 2 edition on November 6, 2025. Both series are from Ghost Town Games, published by Team17.
