Forza Horizon 5 will also use ray tracing during gameplay

Forza Horizon 5 will also use ray tracing during gameplay, not just in Forzavista mode, Playground Games confirms. See the details.

Forza Horizon 5 looks gorgeous, and games from both series, Motorsport and Horizon have always been references in that regard. Until now it had been said that ray tracing (a technique that simulates the “path that light takes in the real world”, giving materials and scenery a much more realistic and immersive look) would only be used in Forzavista mode (a virtual garage that lets you view every detail of the car in more depth), but that is not true!

In the latest episode of Forza Horizon 5: Let’s Go!, the developers confirmed that the game will also have ray tracing during gameplay, but it will be a different technique… the ray tracing used will simulate the dispersion of a sound wave in the most varied environments. Unlike the “original” technique that simulates the path of rays (and is heavier on hardware), this one will simulate the propagation of sound. With the technique it will be possible to simulate how sound would behave in environments in a much more realistic way. Check out the episode below:

It is worth noting that although they have the same “origin”, the results of both techniques improve specific parts of the game… “Original” Ray Tracing has an enormous impact on visuals, while “sound” Ray Tracing has a bigger impact on the game’s audio. And did you know the Ray Tracing technique could be used this way?
