Battlefield 2042 will have cross save, cross play and cross buy on next-gen consoles

Battlefield 2042 will have cross play, cross save and cross buy (what you buy on one platform can be used on the other). Players on PS5, Xbox Series S|X and PC will be able to play together if they wish (there will be an option to play only with owners of the same platform or only between consoles), while PS4 and Xbox One players will only be able to play together with each other, due to hardware limitations. EA makes a point of stressing that old-generation consoles will have most of the features presented in the title (such as dynamic weather events and environmental hazards), obviously excluding the option of playing with up to 128 players on one map; the last-generation version will support only 64 players per map.

Cross Save and Cross Buy will let the player take their progress and purchases to any platform the game has been released on. There will be a beta test this summer. Check out the game’s reveal trailer:

Battlefield 2042 will launch on October 22 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and PC.…EA Games will hold an event on July 22 to show more of the game’s gameplay, stay tuned!
