On the eve of the premiere of Apex Legends’ tenth season, called Emergence, Respawn Entertainment published the battle pass trailer, showing what players could unlock starting August 3, 2021.

What stands out are the looks designed for each legend. Valkyrie gets the “Aerial Evolution” outfit at level 25 of the paid pass, and Horizon gets “Biotic Luminary” at level 50. At the end of the track, at levels 100 and 110, come the reactive variants Symbiotic Relationship and Fatal Injection for the Volt submachine gun. Seer, the season’s new legend, also has his own skin in the pass. The list is rounded out by music packs, banners, holosprays and emotes.

Those who do not pay also get something: the free track gathered 300 Apex Coins, seven Apex Packs, 11 weapon skins and one skin for Bloodhound.

Season 10 was not just about cosmetics. Seer arrived as a legend focused on tracking enemies, listening to heartbeats and interrupting opponents’ actions. The season also brought the Rampage, a new light machine gun, and Ranked Arenas, a competitive version of the Arenas mode, in which two trios face off in rounds. The World’s Edge map went through large-scale destruction, with entire areas replaced by new points of interest. You can see Respawn’s care in renewing the map: the change follows the game’s story, rather than being just a technical tweak.

For those arriving at that moment, Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale set in the Titanfall universe, launched by surprise in February 2019 and which, by April 2021, already had about 100 million players.

What came next

Emergence stayed live until November 2, 2021. The game kept being updated season after season and got native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in 2022 and a Nintendo Switch 2 version in 2025, always with cross-platform play.

Indies and pixel art

Capitão Pixel swears he has a pilot’s license, but the only thing he really flies is the Steam Next Fest demo list. He covers indies, pixel art and art direction, and can write three paragraphs about a jump animation. He has never been seen without his captain’s cap, not even in photos (which, let’s be honest, are all drawn).
