In September 2022, on the eve of Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix released a new promotional video for Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai and confirmed the game would have a simultaneous worldwide launch. It was an action RPG for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC, via Steam, with no date or release window yet.
For the Brazilian audience, The Adventure of Dai goes by another name: Fly, o Pequeno Guerreiro. The original anime, produced by Toei Animation, aired in Japan from 1991 to 1992 and was shown in Brazil on SBT, but stopped at episode 46, without reaching the end of the story, because of disagreements between Enix and Toei. Those who watched at the time went years without knowing how the adventure ended.
The work began as a manga, written by Riku Sanjo and drawn by Koji Inada, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1989 to 1996 and collected in 37 volumes, under the supervision of Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest. The story follows Dai, a 12-year-old boy who lives on the island of Dermline, raised among monsters by his adoptive grandfather, Brass, and who dreams of being a hero like Avan, the warrior who defeated the demon king Hadlar.
In 2020, Toei premiered a new anime adaptation, with 100 episodes aired on TV Tokyo from October 2020 to October 2022. The game arrived right on the wave of that new series.
