Tales of the Shire gets physical editions for those who want a hobbit corner on their shelf

Oh, how cozy! iam8bit, with Wētā Workshop and Private Division, opened pre-orders on May 6, 2025 for the physical versions of Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings™ Game for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.

The two editions

There is the Retail Edition and the iam8bit Exclusive Edition (price in Brazilian reais not announced). Both include the game on disc or cartridge, region-free, and a 20″ x 16″ foldable map of Bywater. The exclusive one also comes with a special book cover. Anyone who pre-orders within the deadline gets an official soundtrack code.

The digital launch is set for July 29, 2025, and the physical editions reach stores the same day. In the game, you live the quiet life of a hobbit: you explore, decorate your hole and spend time with the neighbors in Bywater. Pre-orders are at talesoftheshire.iam8bit.com.

Our take

A little map of Bywater to hang on the wall is exactly the kind of treat that goes with such a cute game. I can already picture the decorated hole and a hot cup of tea next to it.
