What a joy to see the sertão back! During Gamescom Latam, the Omelete Games Direct showed the “First Look Teaser” of ÁRIDA 2: Rise of the Brave, the sequel to the award-winning game from Bahia-based Aoca Game Lab. The video shows improved visuals, day and night scenes, and introduces the protagonists Cícera and Titela, with a more dramatic narrative tone.
Next steps
With the Steam page updated, Aoca started a wishlist campaign. The initial launch will be on PC, and the next milestone is the June Steam Next Fest, when the studio will show more of the development.
According to Filipe Pereira, Aoca’s CEO, the teaser marks an important moment: internally, the team is now dedicating itself only to ÁRIDA 2. Externally, the studio is stepping up conversation with the community and feedback gathering.
Founded in 2017, Aoca released the first ÁRIDA in 2019 on PC, took the game to Android and iOS in 2022 and to consoles between 2023 and 2024. Inspired by historical episodes such as the formation of Canudos, the series has won awards and was even licensed for textbooks.
Our take
I am delighted by every detail of a Brazilian game that treats our history with such care. A pair of protagonists and a more dramatic tone suggest that Aoca wants to go deeper now, and I can’t wait for the demo.
