Microsoft is already preparing for one of its biggest events of the year, the famous E3. A few days ago, it announced it would hold its E3 event on Sunday, June 11.
Microsoft Xbox used to hold its media event on Monday morning, but this year Microsoft made a different decision from past years, and will be the company that kicks off E3. Replying to IGN, Xbox head Phil Spencer explained that this change will give the team a better opportunity to lead the “gaming” narrative:
“I wanted to open E3, but I felt we weren’t opening E3 … because we were in the middle,” Spencer said. “The other heads of the other platforms were right behind us, and I felt, ‘okay, if we’re not getting the benefit of opening E3, we’re not closing it either …’
In fact, Microsoft’s previous Monday morning broadcasts used to be followed by a “cascade of broadcasts from other platforms“, Spencer explained. “I’ll go on Sunday and I think it will let us tell our story, and it will sit there a little longer, as opposed to everybody else who will immediately hold their events”.
Microsoft will undoubtedly show the powerful Project Scorpio during its E3 presentation, a new Xbox console that supports true 4K. The company will also reveal more details about its lineup of Xbox exclusive games for 2017, and it seems Spencer is really excited.
