Check this out: just a few days before the launch of Resident Evil 2, set for Friday, January 25, 2019, on Xbox One, PC and PS4, Eurogamer published a 26-minute video of Claire Redfield in Scenario B. This is the part where, after Leon has made his way alongside Ada, Claire enters the police station to face its horrors.

For those who haven’t played the 1998 classic, let me explain. Scenario B is unlocked when you finish the campaign with one of the protagonists and shows the same night in Raccoon City from another angle. Each character meets different people and finds different weapons, so it is worth finishing the game with both. In the remake, this second campaign is called “2nd Run”: it shuffles the position of items and holds the true final boss and the full ending of the story. Without further ado, the video:

And it doesn’t stop there: finishing the 2nd Run unlocks the extra mode The 4th Survivor, with the mercenary Hunk trying to get out of the sewers to a helicopter amid a flood of enemies, and then The Tofu Survivor, which swaps Hunk for a block of tofu armed only with knives.

What came next

Resident Evil 2 arrived on the date and was acclaimed for its presentation, gameplay and faithfulness to the original. It was the best-selling game in the United Kingdom in January 2019, even with only two days on sale, took the Golden Joystick for game of the year and was nominated for game of the year at The Game Awards. In February the free mode The Ghost Survivors arrived. And the remake became the best-selling Resident Evil in history, with more than 20 million copies as of September 2026.
