Capcom fixes 120 fps support in Devil May Cry 5 on PS5 with an update

Capcom patches the Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition bug on PS5 that turned on 120 fps even outside the performance mode, forcing a lower resolution.

Devil May Cry 5 suffered from a bug on the PS5 that made the game run in 120 fps mode even if you did not choose the performance mode. The bug only occurred on TVs with 120 fps support; since most TVs that support 120 fps only do so at resolutions below 4K, on those TVs the game, no matter the mode the player chose, only ran at 1080p or 1440p, because the PS5, unlike the Xbox Series X, does not have an OS-level option to turn off 120 fps support and so could not work around this flaw. For those who want more details and to see it demonstrated on video, watch Digital Foundry’s (below) analysis:

Do not forget to turn on the captions and then choose the automatic translation option to see subtitles in your language

Capcom recently released a patch that ended this problem, and now the choice of game modes on the PS5 really does what it should.
