Another Cyberpunk 2077 bug: saves can become corrupted beyond recovery after reaching 8MB

New Cyberpunk 2077 bug: saves that grow past 8 MB can become corrupted with no chance of recovery. CD Projekt RED explains how to avoid the problem.

From most anticipated game of the year to most “hated” game of the year… Cyberpunk 2077 went from heaven to hell in a matter of weeks; just search for the game and you will see countless complaints about flaws, bugs, crashes and everything bad someone could expect from a game released before its time. The phrase from Miyamoto, creator of Mario and Zelda, has never made as much sense as now. He said, “A delayed game can be good, but a bad game will be bad forever.”

Not that Cyberpunk 2077 can’t improve; it should and most likely will, but the game will never recover the prestige it could have had if it had been released working as it should. Well, nothing is so bad that it can’t get worse, right? The newest flaw found in Cyberpunk 2077 makes the save corrupt when it reaches 8MB, a size easily reached in the game. CD PROJEKT RED commented on the flaw:

“Unfortunately, the save is damaged and cannot be recovered. Please use an older save file to continue playing and try to keep a smaller amount of items and crafting materials. If you used the item duplication glitch, load a save file not affected by it.”

The company ends the statement by saying that although they may increase the save size in a future patch, corrupted saves could not be recovered.
